What you think of the Assembly

DILYS ABBOTT, 76, from Ebbw Vale, said:

'I don't think much of the Assembly, it's just a talking shop. 'If there was a party standing here to scrap it, I would vote for them. 'The Assembly is just jobs for the boys.'

MYRA THOMAS, 77, from Tredegar Road, said:

'I don't take much interest in what they do, but I don't think they've done much for the people of Blaenau Gwent.'

ROBERT MALCOLM SUTER, 68, from Woodside Crescent, Ebbw Vale, said:

'I think they've done some good with things like the Cwm by-pass.'

TERRY MAGGS, 58, from Nantyglo, said:

'I'm quite happy at the moment with what they've done, although I don't think they've delivered what they originally said. I think they should have more power. 'Coming from one of the most deprived areas in the country, they've certainly improved our area with the Lakeside development.'

ALAN BURKITT, 41, from Goytre, who has worked in Ebbw Vale for the past ten years, said:

'The Assembly gives us a national identity and we should be governed from Wales. 'I think the Assembly has done a lot of good for the area with regards to restoring the railway link. Peter Law has been quite influential. 'The problem is that we are so subservient. Like the Millennium Stadium, whatever we have in Wales should be the best.'

KEITH LEWIS, 61, from Cwm, said:

'I don't think much of them. The Cwm by-pass was good, but with the steelworks shutting down, I don't think we need it anymore.'

CAROL LEWIS, 57, from Cwm, said:

'I'm not that impressed with the Assembly.I think re-opening the railway to Newport will be a very good thing, but whether they ever get around to it is another thing.'
